The series of tennis tournaments in the Czech Republic is expanding with another big event.

The J&T Banka Ostrava Open 2021 has just been added to the 2021 tournament calendar and will take place from 20th to 26th of September as a WTA 500 category event. The venue will be the Ostravar Arena, just like last year.

After less than a year, the world women’s tennis will once again return to a familiar and popular venue. The Ostravar Arena in Vítkovice has been the traditional home of the Czech Fed Cup team in the past and last October it also successfully hosted the WTA tournament’s premiere.

“We are very pleased to have gained the trust of the Women’s Tennis Association. When organizing this year’s event, the date list was the main issue. The J&T Banka Ostrava Open will be the only WTA 500 category tournament on the given date, so we expect a very strong starting field once again,” says Tomáš Petera from Perinvest Group.

While in 2020 it had to be played without spectators, this year’s event should already be open to the public. “It will be in our interest to allow as many fans as possible to attend the tournament, who after a long lockdown certainly deserve to experience the atmosphere of such an event for themselves. Theoretically, we could fill the entire hall, so we plan to bring the ticket prices closer to this goal,” adds Tomáš Petera.

J&T Banka, which was the title partner last year, is again associated with the tournament. “We have been supporting Czech tennis and tennis players for a long time, so we are very happy that we have once again managed to bring a world-class sporting event to the Czech Republic, where the top women’s tennis players will show their skills to the audience. We believe that, compared to last year, the spectators will be able to enjoy the atmosphere of the tournament together with us right in the Ostravar Arena,” says Igor Kováč, member of the Board of Directors of J&T Banka.
